Mustache Series: The Weasel

What I love so much about our boy is that he (almost) always gets into character on the spot. A daddy trait passed onto the next generation for sure. We're always entertained!

Four Year Check Up

This annual appointment was a big one as he got his final immunizations until he is 11 and also did the vision test (stands far away and calls out the objects). It took me back and made me feel old.

Our one concern we wanted to address was his high level of energy (okay, fine, hyperactivity). The doctor said its very common for 3 and 4 year old boys and not to worry. If he's like this at 7, we need to consider further evaluation not just for him, but for his parents, too. :)

He is doing great and here are our busy boy's stats from the pediatrician.

Height/Length: 43in. (95%)
Weight: 45lbs. (95%)
BMI: 17.1
Vision (Left): 20/30
Vision (Right): 20/40
Both: 20/30

Whidbey Island Fun

Took a boat tour through Deception Pass and it was lots of fun. The waves were HUGE and Emmett laughed a lot while Anya did not towards the end.

Emmett joined us for a 1.5 hour guided kayak tour close to Deception Pass. We got to paddle into a cave, look at wildlife and enjoy the beauty of the NW. It was his first kayak trip and we were so proud of him!

Emmett made sure to be the first to board our ferry to Port Townsend.

The was our first time digging for clams and mussels in Penn Cove. I was hoping he would enjoy this more than he did, but maybe another time? They were tasty!

Emmett and Papa John

Emmett and Papa doing an ice cream dance while waiting for the Port Townsend ferry.

Papa throwing Emmett a smooth pitch down the middle. Emmett swings and hits a long drive.

Here they are in Penn Cove digging for mussels and clams. Emmett was not as excited about this one and went along with it to be with his Papa.

First Day of School

Emmett had his first day of school on Thursday at Mary Lane's in Madrona. This was a sudden change and happened only 3 or 4 weeks ago. Mary was always our top pick from day one as Nanny raved about her and said "she would be the best fit for Emmett". Shortly thereafter, I find out Mary is in Penny's Book Club. Small world.

Mary and I spoke frequently and she simply had a full roster of boys. Thank god Mr. Michael dropped out last minute for family reasons and Mary called us right away. Anya and I drove over the next afternoon. We spent a few hours with Mary and fell in love with her school, her energy and just knew this was perfect for our boy.

On top of that, he has his dear friend, Ava in class with him. We're thrilled and know he will thrive in the upcoming year. Oh, and they teach the kids spanish, too. Mucho Gracias, Mary!
